Podcasting in ESL-- an Introduction

Have you ever tried to make or listen to a podcast? I have done both and am hooked! A podcast is simply an audio file (video files are usually called vodcasts) that you can play on your computer or an MP3 player. You can download free podcasts from a number of places on the Internet, such as iTunes. And you and your students can make your own! All you need is an inexpensive microphone and some audio software like Audacity (free download from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ) In another blog post I will go step by step on how to make a podcast with your students.

I love using podcasts for me personally because I am constantly on the go and they give me a chance to listen to the information I want WHEN I want. Same with the students-- you can record lectures, books, conversations, etc on a podcast and save the file for when you need it.
